Dispelling Testing´s Top Ten Myths and Illusions
Under the guidance of a master magician, illusions can be fun and entertaining. Governed by the right circumstances, cultural myths can lead to better lifestyles. However if myths and illusions exist within our organization concerning the projects we work on, then these will distort the truth and ultimately limit testing´s effectiveness and efficiency.
A myth that we can so often encounter is “quality cannot be measured", whilst it might be difficult to measure, Lloyd believes it can and should be measured regularly, otherwise we will never improve and this could lead to the illusion that testing provides no value.
One illusion Lloyd often sees in organizations is “anyone can test", particularly when the project is unlikely to meet the deadline - people are then “drafted-in" to help with testing. This very act can undermine and undervalue the test team´s contribution and the worth that is placed on individual testers.
Join Lloyd as he unveils the list of top 10 illusions and myths that we have to face as testers and test managers. Whilst it is important to identify them as they appear, Lloyd will describe ways to reduce their impact or how to eliminate them completely so that we become ultra effective test professionals who are listened to and respected within our projects and organizations.
