Stop DreamingThe theme at EuroStar last year was about having a Dream team. Why dream and talk about a Dream Team? This will not make your situation any better, because there is no dream team. That´s why they are called “dream" teams. This talk will focus on the things you can do to boost the capabilities of your existing team. How you can make your team achieve above expectations. Today there is often a tight deadline for a project. Everything must be done better, faster and cheaper than before. This results in great pressure on the project and since test is one of the last instances before delivery, the test team will always have all eyes on them. There are several things a test manager can do to provide an efficient working situation for his team. Some of the things may seem obvious, but several of them are not that obvious to see, especially not for a junior test manager. This talk will originate from my experiences acting as a test manager for several years. Some of the things I will talk about are: How to deal with under-achieving team members? The value of having clear goals that the team can commit to How to encourage your team to the assigned tasks? Dealing with feedback and criticismFactors that will make your team members give that extra effort in the team Well defined and efficient test processes helps but I will focus on the humans and group dynamics in a team. It is, after all, people we are dealing with and the result of the team is directly connected to the working climate and atmosphere in the team.
