Gunnar Heldebro, Vice President & General Manager, Development Unit Multimedia Products, BU Multimedia, EricssonAB, SwedenGunnar Heldebro is one of the architects behind the large scale development process framework that we now connect with team-level agile. Gunnar has a background as both developer and project manager. Gunnar still knows how to code and recognize the importance of balance between technical and soft aspects of agile, although coding is not in his current job description as head of the whole development unit with 2 500 people in 5 countries. Gunnar´s organization interacts with other Ericsson functions to deliver world-class multimedia solutions to network operators worldwide.Erik Lundh, vd CompelconABand Global AgileMentor , Development Unit Multimedia Products, BU Multimedia, EricssonAB, Sweden Erik Lundh is one of the more well-known agile profiles in Sweden. He has spent the last 8 years coaching agile to improve people´s worklife. Erik considers these the most rewarding years of his 25 years in software. You might have met Erik at international conferences as a lecturer, panelist or ‘agile lobbyist´. Erik serves as the ‘Global Agile Mentor´ and adviser on agile strategy to Gunnar´s organization DMMP.

Winning with Agile at Ericsson - Why Scrum is not enough Going Agile seems easy with all these trainings and consultants available, right? How about going Agile with 2 500 people developing cutting edge multimedia products in several countries? How about external factors like contracts, customer involvement and third-party deployment of big mission-critical systems. Will Agile scale? Well, people at Ericsson discovered some unique large scale agile practices while working in challenged projects as early as 15+ years ago. Many large projects have since been executed in an agile fashion, but people and teams in development still felt that the day-to-day work was traditional. Development Unit Multimedia Products (DMMP) currently implements an organization-wide merge between celebrated best practices of Ericsson and state-of-the art agile practices. Our pilots suggest that this will improve both the business and our worklife. This does not mean that we deploy e g Scrum as the way to go Agile with our organization. Instead we grow a ‘selfbranded´ combination of a large scale development process framework based on what has worked well in large but flexible projects, with some influences from Toyota, and the best behaviours and techniques from agile. Today you will learn why we have moved in this direction and get a glimpse of some of the strategies and tactics we employ to be successful. Why we now train our own agile coaches rather than use consultants, etc.
