Accessing Data with Silverlight

RSS, WSDL, ASMX, WCF, REST, Astoria.  Many different data access points available to developers, but how can you use them in Silverlight 2?  This session will explore the various different data access methods within Silverlight 2 and what you need to know to leverage them.  We'll explore how to author data services for Silverlight consumption as well as consuming others and providing databinding techniques and updating data via the same methods.  We'll also cover some of the more common pitfalls when exploring data with Silverlight 2.

Customizing Silverlight 2 Controls

Silverlight 2 provides a set of common controls, but what if they don't meet your need visually or functionally?  This session aims to discuss two features of controls within Silverlight 2: templating and creating custom controls.  We'll look at what tools and techniques are available to customize the existing core controls very easily while still retaining the great functionality they provide.  When that isn't enough, we'll look at how to create your own Silverlight controls and what you need to know to make function with the developer and designer tools.
