Busy Developer’s Guide to Functional LanguagesFunctional languages have become the new media darling in programming, and for many developers not familiar with them from their university days, the renewed interest seems mysterious and mind-boggling. What does a functional programming language offer that a traditional object-oriented language like Java or C# doesn’t? In this presentation, we will explore several different functional languages (Erlang, Scala, and Jaskell), their feature sets, and the ways that a functional language can be used to simplify programming. No prior experience with functional languages is necessary.
